According to rumors, Kalvin Phillips could potentially be transferred by Manchester City this summer.
This statement is made by The Daily Mail following Saturday night’s coveted treble victory by City over Inter Milan in the Champions League final, which Sky Sports had paid City for £45 million (Sky Sports).
But it appears like Kalvin Phillips won’t get another chance to establish himself for Manchester City; they’re still willing to let him go.
Kalvin Phillips’ transfer from Manchester City is possible this summer.
Despite being described as a “intelligent player” by Pep Guardiola, the 27-year-old has struggled to play because of injuries and a management who clearly doesn’t trust him.
To be fair, each time Phillips has entered the game in the last moments, he has looked far from his best and made a number of errors.
As a result, if Kalvin Phillips receives offers this summer, it has been suggested that Manchester City will ‘listen to proposals’.
Interestingly, though, the England international is eager to stick around and succeed for Pep Guardiola.
Phillips’ appearance is not the best.
If Kalvin Phillips is actually going to be sold by Manchester City after just one season, that does not bode well for the player at all.
After all, the Sky Blues have a reputation for being patient with new acquisitions and giving them time to get used to the Pep Guardiola way of doing things.
Patience has paid off in the cases of Jack Grealish, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, and Riyad Mahrez on each occasion.
If the treble champions do want to sell Phillips, that just shows they don’t think he will ever look the part for them.
Whatever Kalvin Phillips’ playing potential or work ethic, something very wrong must have occurred in the background for Pep Guardiola and company to have reached this decision so early in his tenure at the club.
