Following his success in leading Manchester City to an unprecedented treble, Lionel Messi has lauded Pep Guardiola as the “best coach in the world.”
The Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League were all won by Guardiola in the same season, making him just the second manager after Sir Alex Ferguson to accomplish this feat. And Messi, who was a member of his old manager’s Barcelona team when he won his first two Champions League titles in 2009 and 2011, was thrilled to watch his former teammate win a third title with City.
Messi told Titan Sports, “I speak with Guardiola frequently and [have] maintained in touch. “I’m quite proud of what he accomplished by winning the most recent Champions League.
Although, in my opinion, he didn’t need to win the Champions League to demonstrate that he was the best coach in the world, it is an accomplishment he merits. After his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired, Messi recently announced that he had decided to join MLS side Inter Miami. The 35-year-old also discussed his illustrious career in the interview.
When asked which players he preferred to play alongside, Messi mentioned Neymar, Xavi, Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o, and Luis Suarez. I had the good fortune to play for Barcelona for a very long time… alongside many of the best players, he remarked.
I had the good fortune to play with the best players and enjoy the game with them, just like Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto’o, Suarez, Xavi, [Andres] Iniesta, and [Sergio] Busquets. Speaking of which, there are so many individuals that I almost forgot about Neymar.
There must be a lot of players I overlooked. I’ve had the good fortune to play with the top players and strikers. such as David Villa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eto’o, Suarez, Neymar, and many others.
Because I’ve had the good fortune to play with the finest of them, I’ve felt at ease playing with all of them, or virtually all of them. After guiding Argentina to victory against France in the final on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 draw, Messi also revealed that the 2022 World Cup will likely be his last.
I think not,” he said in response to a question on whether he may captain Argentina’s World Cup defence in 2026. It was my final World Cup in [2022]. I’ll wait and see how things turn out, but in general, no, I won’t attend the next World Cup.
