Chelsea and Santos are in advanced negotiations to bring in winger Angelo Gabriel in a deal estimated to be worth £15 million.
The 18-year-old, who has long been regarded as one of Brazil’s top players, is anticipated to finalize his transfer to Stamford Bridge soon.
At age 16, Angelo made his debut for Santos’ first team. In 2021, he set a record for the youngest goal scorer in Copa Libertadores history, South America’s version of the Champions League. Endrick, who will sign with Real Madrid in the upcoming summer, has subsequently surpassed that mark.
Despite only turning 18 in December, Angelo has already appeared in 129 senior games while representing Brazil’s under-20 team. He is not in great form and is having a difficult season, playing largely off the bench.
The teenager’s decision over whether to join Chelsea’s first team, under-21 squad, or new associate club Strasbourg is still up in the air.
With Nicolas Jackson, a striker from Villarreal, ready to arrive in a £32 million move, Angelo might become Chelsea’s third new addition. The deal for Christopher Nkunku‘s £52 million transfer from RB Leipzig was already in place, and the Blues will now turn their attention to signing Moises Caicedo of Brighton.
