For Mason Mount’s services, Manchester United and Chelsea have reached an agreement.
According to The Athletic, Mount will sign for £55 million plus $5 million in add-ons. He is the team’s first summer signing, subject to a physical.
Although Manchester United is getting a wonderful bargain, Chelsea is losing one of their best players, which is a tremendous loss.
Manchester United to sign Mason Mount
Mason Mount, who has been a member of Chelsea’s academy since he was six years old, will be missed there. He is moving up now by departing for Manchester United.
Trevor Chalobah, a teammate at Chelsea with whom he attended the academy, has already expressed sadness over his departure.
Following the announcement, Chalobah wrote: “My boy” on Twitter along with a crying emoji and shattered heart.
Manchester United benefits from Chelsea’s loss. Mount’s greatest years, which are yet ahead of him at only 24 years old, will be spent at Old Trafford.
It was crucial to make the initial signing before others joined Manchester United in the wake of Mason Mount.
As for Chelsea, they are in clearout mode, having already sold Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly.
