The elderly trio of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara, together with the young prospects Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliott, will be the club’s only absentees for the upcoming season due to the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and Fabio Carvalho.
Liverpool has subsequently been connected to practically every half-decent midfielder in Europe. A deal for Alexis Mac Allister from RB Leipzig was completed fairly quickly, and progress has been made on a deal for Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
Here’s why Liverpool is so eager to use Szoboszlai to fill one of their midfield gaps.
What Liverpool can gain from Dominik Szoboszlai
Liverpool definitely wants to score a lot of goals from midfield next season, despite the strong desire to sign a defensive midfielder. Both Mac Allister and Szoboszlai are attack-oriented players with a history of hitting the target.
Szoboszlai showed how crucial he is to the Bundesliga team and how productive he can be from the midfield by scoring 10 goals for RB Leipzig in the 2022–23 season after making 48 appearances. Additionally, he contributed 13 assists across all competitions.
Standing at a dominating 1.87 metres (6’1), the Red Bull graduate is tremendously technically gifted. He possesses the physical attributes of a player who will adapt well to the Premier League and be useful in both boxes. Even with a high charge, his passing range is exceptional, making this a potentially extremely wise business decision. Szoboszlai has produced a lot over his career; in just 226 appearances, he has scored 64 goals and racked up 73 assists.
His extraordinary adaptability, which allows him to be equally at home on either wing as he is in the centre of the pitch, is another significant plus for him.
