After Manchester City withdrew from the race, the Gunners eventually made progress last month in their negotiations to recruit Rice from West Ham. According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal made a £105 million offer, which the Hammers accepted.
The midfielder will cost the Gunners £100 million in fixed fees and an additional £5 million in add-ons, and Rice is anticipated to agree to a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.
As far as Romano is aware, the social media claims that Arsenal and West Ham were having trouble coming to terms on the deal’s payment arrangement are untrue.
The payment arrangements are still being discussed between the two teams, and only a few minor details need to be added before the transaction is finalized. Jacob Steinberg, a fellow Guardian journalist, reports that Arsenal plans to pay the £100 million in three installments over the next two years.
Romano continues by saying that, if all goes according to plan, a medical appointment will be scheduled soon.
The signing of a game changer
This summer, Arsenal made acquiring Rice their top objective, and they are almost successful. They have demonstrated ambition in the transfer market after placing second last year and have also acquired Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
The area that needs strengthening is the middle midfield, though. Rice, who is undoubtedly among the top holding midfielders in the Premier League, will give the team a lot more depth and quality. Indeed, a lot of experts believe that with him on the squad, the Gunners would be able to contend for the title in 2023–24.
Since Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are both slated to go, Arsenal may decide to add another midfielder to Rice. Romeo Lavia has been mentioned in connection with them, although Liverpool and other opponents pose a serious threat.
