Harvey Elliot’s mysterious four-message to the Chelsea star has fueled speculation that Liverpool will make a summer transfer approach for Levi Colwill.
The youthful Three Lions of England secured a position in the final against Spain with a 3-0 victory against Israel on Wednesday, but they have not yet returned to their respective clubs for preseason training.
Lee Carsley’s team hasn’t given up a goal in any of their five games so far in the tournament, and Colwill has appeared in four of them. England qualified for the final with goals from Morgan Gibbs-White, Cole Palmer, and Cameron Archer. Chelsea star Noni Madueke came off the bench to complete the victory after playing a key role in the group stage victory over Germany.
Colwill uploaded numerous images of himself in action to Instagram along with the message, “One last push!,” to celebrate their most recent triumph. The final is now. Let’s have a chat, *laughing face emoji*,” Elliot immediately said in response to the post. The 20-year-old quickly removed the response and substituted the phrase “some player” in its place.
The Seagulls tried to bring Colwill back permanently after his outstanding 2022–23 loan season at Brighton, but Chelsea had no desire to let him go. Colwill is now negotiating a new, bumper contract, but he is reportedly not in a hurry to sign it and instead wants confirmations from Pochettino over his first-team position.
Liverpool is still interested in Colwill, according to football.london, despite Chelsea’s firm transfer stance. In the recent weeks, inquiries regarding a potential move have also been made, although no formal offers have been made.
Following the conclusion of the European championships, Colwill will return to Cobham, with the England final scheduled to take place on Sunday. The young defender will then have a meeting with Pochettino to go over the future as he appears to be in the running to replace Benoit Badiashile in Chelsea’s back line.
An old photo of Colwill sporting a Liverpool jersey from his youth has surfaced in addition to Elliot’s subtly hinting transfer.
