Arsenal Midfielder Dealt Injury Blow, Ruled Out of Nurnberg Friendly in Pre-Season
Albert Sambi Lokonga won’t be joining Arsenal for their preseason training camp in Germany.
The first official summer friendly for the Gunners will be against Nurnberg, and the Belgian midfielder has confirmed that a muscular problem will keep him at home.
He wrote on Instagram, “Unfortunately, I won’t be joining the squad for the summer camp in Germany due to a muscular injury.
I’m concentrating right now on getting better so that I can be ready for the season and be as helpful to the squad as possible.
After a behind-closed-doors tie with Watford on Sunday, Arsenal sent a 30-man squad to Germany.
With an eye towards participating in the friendly at adidas’ Herzogenaurach headquarters, Kai Havertz was one of the players who appeared in the international matches from last month who started their preseason on the weekend.
Whether the new acquisition will play against Nurnberg, along with players like Bukayo Saka, will be decided this week.
The team will subsequently go for America this coming weekend.
Burnley has been connected to Lokonga, who has expressed his desire for first-team play next season.
