The Mirror reports that during the summer transfer window, Everton wants to acquire Tom Heaton from Manchester United, a rival in the Premier League.
According to the article, the Toffees ‘had made an enquiry’ about hiring the 37-year-old custodian who earns £62,000 per week (SalarySport).
Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, and Heaton both played for Burnley.
Due to Asmir Begovic’s departure, the Toffees are looking for a backup custodian.
Manchester United is allegedly close to acquiring Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as a replacement after David de Gea left the club.
According to The Mirror, Luton Town is also interested in Heaton.
Could Everton get Manchester United’s Tom Heaton?
We believe that Everton may have difficulty luring Tom Heaton away from Manchester United during the summer transfer window.
First off, it’s possible that United won’t be eager to part with Heaton.
Although he is currently 37 years old, he is a very seasoned custodian and a great backup to have in any squad.
Additionally, Heaton himself might not be eager to join Everton this summer.
The Toffees’ starting custodian is Jordan Pickford.
Heaton would so serve as his backup.
Why would the goalkeeper leave his role as a back-up goalkeeper at arguably the biggest club in England to do the same job at a team who almost got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season?
