Chelsea has expressed interest in Franck Kessie, a 26-year-old midfielder for Barcelona, and could challenge Aston Villa for his services.
The Ivory Coast international was a consistent starter at AC Milan, but it has been more difficult for him to get playing time at Barcelona.
While he did play in 43 games last season across all competitions, the majority of them were as a substitute.
He only made seven starts in La Liga, for instance, and another 21 came off the bench.
According to reports, Aston Villa has already made a €20 million offer for the midfielder, and Chelsea may now increase their interest.
Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing the Barcelona player, according to La Vanguardia.
Since players like Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic left Chelsea this summer, it seems natural that they are considering midfield replacements.
Kessie won’t participate in Barcelona’s preseason tour because he is looking for a new team, according to Barcelona journalist Anais Marti Herrero.
The midfielder has fans outside of Chelsea and Aston Villa as well. Juventus and Saudi Arabian teams are both keeping an eye on him.
Mauricio Pochettino undoubtedly has a lot of work to do to improve Chelsea’s situation.
Although more players will be required, they have made a good start to the summer window by bringing in Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
Pochettino has emphasised that he is concentrated on getting Chelsea back to becoming a competitive team.
Pochettino told reporters, “We are working really hard. “I have faith in this football team and its owners, and all I need to do is coach and direct them to meet our expectations as well as those of our supporters.
I won’t be discussing the past. Everyone at Chelsea, including our supporters, must be upbeat and make an effort to sincerely believe.
“I’m still not making an effort to identify the greatest problem. Finishing the squad and having a balanced squad are crucial.
“Waiting in football is challenging. At Chelsea, you must perform right away. We are currently practicing on the practice pitch in order to deliver from this point on and give our all.
