According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is prepared to sell forward Ferran Torres this summer, which has greatly aided Arsenal’s efforts to sign him.
The Gunners have been active during this transfer window, spending more than £200 million so far. They have just signed Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber and have just acquired Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
It has been reported that Mikel Arteta’s team will now aim to offload some players before refocusing on bolstering their roster with more firepower during the remaining weeks of this transfer window, and they intend to make at least a few more additions.
One of the areas Arteta is looking to strengthen is attack, and it has been previously stated that the Spanish manager wants to bring in a new right-winger to back up Bukayo Saka.
Moussa Diaby and Raphinha are two names that have been mentioned in connection with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the past several months, but Torres is also allegedly on their radar.
Ferran Torres to the Gunners
According to Romano’s claim on Caught Offside, Barcelona would be willing to cash in on the Spain international if his prospective pursuers, like Arsenal, made a “large” offer. However, the journalist asserts that no club has formally approached Torres yet, and that no progress has been made on this agreement.
Romano wrote:
“I’m also aware of some other Arsenal rumours doing the rounds, with some reports that Ferran Torres could leave Barcelona, possibly on loan. I’m not currently aware of anything concrete on that. Barcelona would be open to discussing this in case of big proposals but nothing has happened as of now, it’s very quiet.”
Torres reportedly wants to stay at Barcelona despite not receiving consistent playing time the previous season. So, if Arsenal formalises their interest, it remains to be seen if they can convince the winger to transfer to the Emirates Stadium.
Barcelona apparently values their top player at roughly £34 million, therefore Arsenal might be able to sign the Spaniard for a fair price this summer.
After making significant financial investments to sign Havertz, Rice, and Timber, it will be intriguing to see if Arsenal has the financial strength to pay that much money this summer.
