Kyle Walker may potentially decide to stay at Man City past the conclusion of the season.
According to Simon Bajkowski, a journalist for the Manchester Evening News, the defender hasn’t made up his mind about joining Bayern Munich yet.
Walker is entering the final year of his contract, despite making 22 starts in the Premier League the previous year.
The 33-year-old has been closely associated with Bayern Munich lately, and The Athletic reported last week that Walker and the German champions have verbally agreed to a transfer.
Walker has not yet decided on his future, according to Bajkowski, and he is still considering staying at the Etihad Stadium.
Bajkowski stated: “It was particularly strange because reports from Germany said he had opted to stay at City but news the next day said he had elected to join Bayern. I’m not sure if he picked Bayern.
The most recent information I had on the matter last week stated that he had received a very excellent offer from Bayern that he was willing to accept, but that he had also received a very good counter offer from City that had led him to believe that he might be able to remain at City for the upcoming two years.
He may have made a decision, but from what I understand, he hasn’t made up his mind yet.
Kyle Walker “can’t” operate within Man City’s framework.
Kyle Walker has been outstanding for Man City and has made a significant contribution to their six-year run of success.
Walker’s departure would be a significant loss to Man City because he has won five Premier League championships, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and the Champions League. Walker was frequently hailed for his outstanding performances under Pep Guardiola.
Walker was described as “outstanding” by the Spaniard after Man City defeated West Ham in August of last year, but things have unquestionably altered since then.
Walker was dropped from the starting lineup towards the conclusion of the season, and Guardiola provided an explanation back in April, saying the Englishman “couldn’t do it” under his new system that sees John Stones moved into midfield.
Walker is a hugely popular player at Man City, but if he has trouble breaking back into the lineup under Pep, it could seem best for him to go this summer.
