In their opening preseason game on Wednesday night, Liverpool overcame Karlsruher 4-2 thanks to two goals from Diogo Jota in added time.
As the pendulum swung throughout the game, the inaugural game at the new stadium for the German club was one to remember. Darwin Nunez scored after only three minutes, but the home team quickly changed the tide to take a 2-1 lead in the second half.
Prior to the Portuguese forward’s late, late brace, Cody Gakpo had previously pulled even.
Jota slaloming his way past two Karlsruher defenders before slipping the ball past Patrick Drewes produced a stunning goal to make it 3-2.
The 26-year-old increased his total in just 60 seconds after latching onto a deft through ball to put it in the back of the net and cheer up the visiting Liverpool fans.
Tottenham is well aware of our number 20’s great tendency of scoring in stoppage time from April, and we won’t mind if he comes up with a few more late winners once the actual season begins!
