According to Fabrizio Romano, the two parties have agreed on a transfer cost for the center-back, which has not yet been made public. As a result, the deal is now all but finalized. Although things had always moved slowly, the two teams had been engaged in negotiations for a number of weeks.
Gvardiol was one of City’s top priorities heading into the summer transfer window, and the club allegedly reached an agreement on personal terms with the 21-year-old a month ago.
Romano claims that the transaction is so far along that Gvardiol finished the first portion of his medical on Wednesday, indicating that the transfer is just about to happen.
The transfer deal still needs to be signed by the two clubs and Gvardiol must finish the remainder of his physical. The asking price for Leipzig was €100 million (£87/$112 million), but the actual cost is yet unknown. Gvardiol will most likely travel to Japan soon to join Pep Guardiola and his first team, who left for their preseason trip on Wednesday.
