As he prepares to perhaps return to Manchester United this season, Mason Greenwood is said to have told his friends that he has “learned so much.”
Since his suspension in January 2022 following his arrest on allegations of raping and abusing a woman, the striker has not been with the team. He was eventually charged with sexual assault and making death threats.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against the 21-year-old in February of this year, although a comeback to football hasn’t been officially announced given the continuing inquiry Manchester United has initiated into his future.
While on suspension, Greenwood is reportedly still collecting his £75,000 weekly wage, but he is being watched by United officials, who have created a fresh training schedule for him.
The athlete, according to a source, has “learned a big amount” and is now aware that “he has to grow up.”
The insider told The Sun that “he’s being urged to speak up and have his voice heard.”
But in private, he has admitted to his friends and family that he has learned a great deal. This month, he experienced fatherhood for the first time and realized he needed to mature.
It happens despite Adidas, a sponsor of Manchester United, stating they had not spoken to the team about Greenwood’s future. In reaction to rumors that the German sportswear company had authorized his probable return to Erik ten Hag’s first team, that was said.
“After erroneous and speculative media speculation, we must clarify that Adidas has had no negotiations with Manchester United over any member of their playing group,” a spokeswoman for Adidas stated.
