Mykhaylo Mudryk, a star for Chelsea, has sent the club’s supporters into a frenzy after scoring a thunderous goal from long-range during a training session in the USA. Before the start of the Premier League season, the Blues are currently on a pre-season tour of North America.
In January, Chelsea completed the £89 million acquisition of Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk as part of owner Todd Boehly’s unrelenting spending binge. The Ukraine winger, who was anticipated to sign with Arsenal, changed his mind at the last minute and signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with Stamford Bridge.
Since joining the club, Mudryk has yet to register a goal for Chelsea and has struggled with his form in West London. Since arriving in England, he has been in and out of the team, and he has stiff competition merely to get a starting spot for the Blues side this year.
But after witnessing the player’s exceptional abilities in practice, new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will now be hoping the 22-year-old can be his dangerman throughout the new season.
In preparation for Chelsea’s preseason friendly matchup with Borussia Dortmund, Mudryk participated in a training game. The star then cut back onto his right foot after receiving the ball 25 yards from goal and curled a magnificent shot into the top corner of the net.
Numerous followers saw the scene, which was recorded on video and shared on Twitter. As the ball landed in the net, many of them were heard squealing with joy. His teammates also seemed in awe of his performance.
With 10 goals and 8 assists in 18 appearances for Shakhtar the season before he moved to England, Mudryk is undoubtedly a quality player. And after failing to perform to his full potential under former Blues boss Graham Potter and his temporary replacement Frank Lampard, he will be looking to break out under Pochettino.
At the end of March, Sky Sports questioned Mudryk about his lackluster start to life at Stamford Bridge. The star, who has 11 caps for Ukraine, also admitted that the pressure was great, but said that it wasn’t the first time. I enjoy the pressure because one day the person who formerly called me a loser will now hail me as a victor. Time will reveal.
