Many high-profile players failed to live up to their expectations at Old Trafford as a result of Manchester United’s poor transfer strategy over the past ten years.
Numerous well-known athletes have failed to perform when under pressure to represent United, disappointing the supporters and damaging their reputations in the process.
none more so than Alexis Sanchez, a Chilean. In the winter of 2018, Sanchez moved to United from Premier League opponent Arsenal with the expectation that he would help Jose Mourinho’s team win the championship.
But for Sanchez, who had a miserable spell in Manchester before being transferred to Inter Milan less than two years later, things couldn’t have gone any worse.
The 34-year-old is currently a free agent and, despite being far into the latter stages of his career, he could be headed for an unexpected return to a former team.
According to The Sun, Barcelona, a Spanish powerhouse, is interested in re-signing Sanchez to increase their offensive options for the upcoming season.
Due to the departure of Ousmane Dembele to PSG, Barca now has a void in their lineup, and Sanchez might fill it for Xavi’s team.
The Barcelona manager is familiar with Sanchez from their playing days together for the Catalan team during their trophy-laden run from 2011 to 2014.
Despite scoring 14 league goals in 35 games for Marseille last season, Sanchez was unable to extend his one-year deal.
Sanchez’s and Barcelona’s representatives are scheduled to meet today (Friday) to go through the specifics of a prospective deal that would bring the forward back to Camp Nou.
Sanchez has been unable to regain the form that made him one of the Premier League’s most feared players since moving from Arsenal to United.
Sanchez would undoubtedly appreciate returning to Barca because it would give him the chance to play at the top level of the game for another year.
