Chelsea faces a challenging task as they attempt to recover from their worst Premier League campaign.
Since Todd Boehly took management at Stamford Bridge a year ago, the Blues have spent about £700 million. Twenty new players have joined the team since then, but they haven’t yet been to the club’s advantage.
In fact, despite the club’s extravagant spending habits, Chelsea’s season-ending point total was its lowest ever. That resulted in the Blues finishing in an alarmingly low position of 12th, some 45 points behind champions Manchester City and only 10 points above the relegation zone.
As a result, manager Pochettino, who was recently hired, has a major task on his hands. And based on the additions of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo Gabriel, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Axel Disasi as summer acquisitions thus far, he appears to have left his mark on the Chelsea team.
Chelsea Kits 2023–24
Exits were as likely to happen in their squad because of how fat it was as new players. Due in part to Financial Fair Play restrictions, Chelsea has sold a tonne of senior players as they attempt to reduce their overall squad size and wage bill.
Players’ squad numbers this season may be drastically different from those from last season as a result of the massive exodus. Do not fret! Prior to the start of the new season, GOAL will be your go-to source for all official squad number updates.
Chelsea squad numbers
These are just a few of the significant players who left Stamford Bridge this summer: N’golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy are just a few more. Chelsea now has a lot of freedom when it comes to allocating new signings lower squad numbers thanks to such a significant exodus.
It’s interesting that fresh recruits like Nkunku and Jackson received squad numbers that were fairly out of the ordinary: 43 and 45, respectively. However, Chelsea has promptly said that those squad numbers were solely for the US trip and do not represent the squad numbers for the 2023–24 season, which will be revealed in due time prior to the start of the new season.
