Micah Richards has stated that if Kyle Walker leaves, Manchester City may be in for major “trouble.”
The popular analyst discussed the future of the £50 million (Sky Sports) player and how it would influence City in an interview on the podcast The Rest Is Football.
Micah Richards, though, thinks that Kyle Walker’s replacement may prove to be difficult for Manchester City to find.
If Kyle Walker leaves Manchester City, according to Micah Richards, there may be “trouble” the following season.
Pep Guardiola, who previously called the Englishman “irreplaceable,” said after the Sky Blues’ Community Shield loss to Arsenal that he hopes he stays.
Prior to the forthcoming season, the treble winner is yet still mentioned in connection with a transfer to Bayern Munich.
Micah Richards has stated that if Walker decides to leave the team this summer, City could experience a decrease as a collective.
“Kyle Walker is the one issue I can see for City if he leaves. Kyle Walker simply eliminates that threat given the way City play, press, and frequently leave themselves open on the counterattack.
And while I am aware that he didn’t start in the Champions League final [against Inter Milan], the team just doesn’t seem to be the same without him. I’ll need to hire someone who can perform a comparable function.
Kyle Walker leaving the Sky Blues would surely be detrimental.
Micah Richards undoubtedly has a point because Kyle Walker is still a top-tier athlete and his quick recovery time is just one of the numerous factors that allow Manchester City to play aggressively.
The five-time Premier League champion’s outstanding defensive skills and lightning-quick speed make it so that Manchester City rarely gets caught in behind their defenders, especially against teams that play in transition.
Only one full-back in the business practically assures keeping them quiet, and that is Kyle Walker, especially in Europe against some of the best wingers in the world of football.
Walker’s potential departure would not, then, be good news for Manchester City in any way.
