According to rumors, West Ham and Manchester United have reopened negotiations on a transfer for Harry Maguire.
The English defender was one of David Moyes’ team’s main priorities this summer, but they were unable to sign him.
They and Manchester United had reached an agreement on a £30 million transfer fee, but they got impatient waiting for Maguire to make a decision.
Maguire’s transfer to West Ham was reportedly at a standstill because United wanted to find a replacement before approving his departure, according to Mailsport.
The Sun is now claiming that a deal might materialize again since West Ham has “reopened talks with Manchester United” regarding the defender.
According to the source, Maguire wants a significant payoff from Manchester United in order to depart Old Trafford this summer.
An agreement costing £120,000 per week, or £70,000 less per week than his previous salary, has been reached with the Irons.
In order for Maguire to go this summer, West Ham is reportedly “trying to find a way to pay a bit more to help United pay off” him.
The goal of Erik ten Hag’s team is to sell Maguire so they can raise money to make further acquisitions before the transfer market closes on Friday.
Whether the Reds will sell their defender before the transfer window closes is an open question.
