Young midfielder Pedri reaches milestone 100 matches for Barca.
In a La Liga encounter against Girona on Saturday, Pedri made his 100th appearance for Barcelona as a substitute.
The midfielder, who joined from Las Palmas, made his debut in 2020, just two months shy of his 18th birthday, and has since established himself as an important member of the team.
The Spain international has consistently been their standout midfielder when he’s played, garnering comparisons to both boss Xavi and Andres Iniesta despite the presence of players like Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, and Gavi in the squad.
He only made 22 appearances last season due to hamstring problems, but he has since made 100 matches for the Spanish team.
Pedri didn’t start his 100th game because Xavi decided to rest him, but he was compelled to play after Ousmane Dembele sustained an injury shortly before the 30-minute mark.
He then celebrated his 100th game in style by giving Barcelona the lead at Girona with his 15th goal while wearing the colors of Barcelona.
Pedri has yet to score a goal for his nation but has already established himself as an important member of La Roja, starting most of the games at the Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
If no catastrophic injuries occur, he will more than likely break the 100-match mark for Spain given that he has already earned 18 caps at the age of 20.
