Chris Sutton, a former Chelsea forward, asserted that Bukayo Saka is currently the best winger in the world, surpassing Mohamed Salah, but he laughed off the thought of Manchester United star Anthony being mentioned in the same breath. Saka has had a standout season for both his club and his country, and his performances for Arsenal this season have played a significant role in the team’s drive for the Premier League championship.
The Three Lions struck twice without a response under the Wembley arch as Saka, who has been a standout for England in recent months, put on a stunning performance against Ukraine on Sunday. Saka’s most recent contribution left Sutton speechless, and he asserted after the final whistle that he is even higher up the international pecking order than Riyad Mahrez and Salah.
When asked about the top wingers on the planet, Sutton said to BT Sport, “Saka is winning the war on the right.” “This season, Salah has not been the same driving force for Liverpool’s offense. At Man City, Mahrez is tremendously skilled, but Saka is my preference above Mahrez.”
Sutton continued to make light of the idea that Antony was on an equal footing with the aforementioned three players, noting that the Brazilian winger had so far been unable to convince any of his critics at Old Trafford.
Sutton went on to say, “I won’t be taking any of Antony’s proposals seriously. Most likely, the United man’s bedroom wall is covered in Saka posters.
Since moving to United from Ajax in the summer, Antony has scored just three times in the Premier League, and he has yet to give the Red Devils even a single league assist. Even worse, he hasn’t managed to score a goal at home and all three of his goals came early in the season.
The jaw-dropping £85 million transfer fee that the Red Devils paid to sign the 23-year-old less than a year ago has come under scrutiny due to the player’s performances and a variety of ongoing injury issues. It will be interesting to see if Anthony can silence his detractors in the coming weeks and months as United looks to add more hardware to their recent Carabao Cup victory before the season comes to an end.
Darren Bent also noted Antony’s propensity to pull off fancy tricks without ever beating a defender or creating a chance for his club, thus the topic of Antony being criticized by analysts is nothing new despite Sutton’s most recent remarks.
According to Bent on talkSPORT, “all tricks and flicks, no substance right now.” “He is performing all of this, yet he is not avoiding anyone. He’s just doing it for fun; it’s not like he’s pulling off some trick to get the ball to sneak by someone.
“I was like, ‘Come on, it’s only a spin,’ at the moment, similar to the spin. I can’t believe we’re signing him, you think as you capture all the best moments of a football player and watch them on YouTube. The finished result, however, is nowhere to be seen in between. Where is the finished product? I know he got off to a terrific start at United with a handful of good goals.
