Before their Europa League match against Sevilla, Manchester United has been dealt a significant injury setback.
Midweek sees United host the Andalucians in the opening leg of their quarterfinal matchup, with top scorer Marcus Rashford perhaps out.
With 28 goals in all competitions this season, Rashford has been in outstanding form for United, but he was substituted late in their 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton.
When asked about Rashford’s most recent injury status while playing full-time for Old Trafford, Ten Hag acknowledged that the outlook is not promising.
It does not appear to be good, but we must wait. Again, the timetable is to blame, according to sources from BT Sports.
You can’t be playing three games in six days, I insist. We must better safeguard our players.
Anthony Martial, a former Sevilla loanee, is set to take Rashford’s position if he is unable to play for United against Sevilla.
In the second part of 2021–2022, Martial had a disappointing six-month stay at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, making just one goal in 12 appearances.
Ten Hag to BT Sport on Rashford: "We have to wait, doesn't look well. Once again that is due to the schedule. It can’t be you play three games in six days. We have to protect our players." #MUFC
