Kyle Walker Leaves Rivals in the Dust: Man City Star Crowned Premier League’s Fastest Player, Outpacing Usain Bolt’s Records
With a recorded sprint speed of 23.3 mph in practise, Kyle Walker is the Premier League’s fastest player.
The Manchester City defender is renowned for his lightning quickness, but at 32 years old, there may have been some worries that his speed would be waning as many athletes have after turning 30.
The England star, though, continues to lead the pack and is the fastest player to have competed in the English Premier League for at least the previous three seasons.
Walker trails only French superstar Kylian Mbappe among active players by 0.3 mph at a top pace of 23.6 mph, which is why Walker’s World Cup stifling was the responsibility of the right back.
Dina Asher Smith, a British Olympian and one of the world’s fastest female athletes, beats Walker by 0.7mph, but Usain Bolt leads the field with an astounding 27.8mph.
In 2009, when he set the record for the fastest 100-meter sprint ever with a time of just 9.58 seconds, Bolt displayed a pace that was hardly credible.
With a top speed of 23.3 mph, he outpaces other well-known speed demons like Gareth Bale (22.9 mph), Mohamed Salah, Antonio Rudiger, and Brennan Johnson (22.8 mph).
When asked if he was still as swift as he once was in a pre-game press conference on Tuesday, he responded, “I’m 32 but I’m not old, I still feel terrific, fit, bar the accident with my groyne before the World Cup.”
“I’ve maintained in good shape, and I take care of myself off the pitch.” In the gym, I work.
“Some players start to slow down,” my parents and their genetics, I must be grateful. I hit 37.5kph (23.3mph), according to one of the young men studying sports science.
If Walker had chosen to pursue athletics instead of football, his speed implies that he might have found some success as a professional sprinter.
He is just 4.5mph slower than Lamont Marcell Jacobs, the Italian Olympic 100-meter champion, who is four years younger, and 1mph slower than Jesse Owens, the iconic American sprinter who won four Olympic gold medals.
Further issues arose regarding Walker’s surprising speed in compared to his new teammate Erling Haaland, unquestionably one of the world’s most physically talented athletes.
In response to a question regarding who was quicker between him and Haaland, he stated, “The manager doesn’t like to do things over extended areas, we both need time to get up to speed.”
Some strikers don’t generate those opportunities, but Erling is incredibly quick. Some strikers employ physical force. I still need to support myself.
Wednesday night’s second leg of Manchester City vs. Real Madrid‘s Champions League semifinal will pit Walker against another speedster in Vinicius Jnr.
The team that wins that match is likely to be the one that has secured a spot in the Champions League final, where they will face Inter Milan in Istanbul, and will depart the Etihad with that advantage.
