Following a difficult first season as manager, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will reduce his role with the team.
In May 2022, Boehly and a group that reportedly included the private equity firm Clearlake Capital acquired Chelsea.
Boehly used to spend 50% of his daily activities at Stamford Bridge, but now, according to Bloomberg, he only spends 20% of his time there.
Boehly faced several difficulties in his first season as a Premier League team owner because of his record-breaking £600 million spending across two transfer windows.
Chelsea will finish the season in the bottom half of the league, which will be their lowest finish in nearly 30 years. Graham Potter was fired as Chelsea’s head coach earlier in the season.
Boehly stated during the most recent Global Conference of the Milken Institute:
It’s such a widespread sport. There are markets for elite players everywhere in the world because there are no unions, unlike in the US.
“Those markets are all distinct from one another. There are three markets available: the Portuguese, French, and English markets.
“You must create a team, and your coach is the team’s conductor, in order to enter these marketplaces.
“There are many things we’ve learned about the various marketplaces and the worldwide nature of it all.
“We acknowledge that the fans are demanding and competitive. We aim to triumph.
We believe that this project will take a while to complete, and we are devoted to that. We are certain that we will solve the problem.
We have the finest league in the world, the best city in the world, in my opinion, and a fantastic location in the best city in the world.
The Chelsea women’s squad, on the other hand, has had a good season. They now sit atop the FA Women’s Super League standings and just won the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.
According to LondonWorld, the Blues are considering additional additions this summer, and the impending appointment of head coach Mauricio Pochettino has fans excited for the upcoming campaign.
