In the last week, Gazzetta dello Sport said that André Onana’s move to Chelsea is “more than a possibility” due to Inter Milan’s intention to offload their custodian in the summer.
When addressing Samir Handanovi’s predicament at the San Siro, the most recent report from most recent report from Calciomercato now reveals the Blues interest in the 27-year-old. The latter’s contract expires in June, and he has previously stated he is unsure of where he will play in the upcoming campaign.
Since taking over as the Serie A team’s first-choice stopper in lieu of Handanovi, the former Ajax player has excelled. From 40 games, he has preserved 19 clean sheets while giving up 35 goals.
Handanovi will meet with Inter officials following the June 10 Champions League final against Manchester City in order to discuss his future there. Due in part to Chelsea’s interest in Onana, the Nerazzurri wish to maintain the option of keeping him open.
According to the report, Inter is “aware of the fact” that the west London club may make a “very high offer” in the next “few weeks.”
Inter don’t want to be in a position where they have to sign two new goalkeepers in the summer if Onana were to go for Chelsea. They therefore want to leave the entrance open so that Handanovi might stay at the club.
