According to sources in France, Manchester United is actively seeking to sign Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe, who is widely regarded as the world’s best player right now, has made it known that he plans to leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires in the summer of 2019.
In order to avoid losing for nothing the next year, PSG is now expected to want to sell a player valued at about €200 million (£171 million).
Tuesday’s edition of the Spanish Spanish newspaper El Pais claims that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, chairman of the Qatar Investment Bank, a potential new owner of Manchester United, has long had plans to sign Mbappe.
The Glazer family is apparently planning to make a decision this week, therefore the Premier League heavyweights have not yet revealed who their favored bidder is. The two front-runners are Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, CEO of INEOS.
According to the source, Mbappe has been “interested” in the possibility of playing for the Premier League’s powerhouses since February, when he first learned of Sheikh Jassim’s desire.
According to El Pais, the idea is a “win-win situation” for the player and PSG, which is also owned by Qatar, because Mbappe will transfer to the largest club in England and the strongest league while PSG can pocket a sizable transfer fee.
