According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Chelsea has “shown interest” in acquiring Gabri Veiga from Celta Vigo during the summer transfer window.
For Celta Vigo, how many goals has Veiga scored?
The 2022–23 season has been wonderful for the 21-year-old Celta star, who has distinguished himself as one of his team’s most crucial players and displayed his attacking prowess in the process.
Veiga finished the season in the top 99 percentile for non-penalty goals by midfielders in the major leagues with an impressive tally of 11 goals and four assists in La Liga. Additionally, he made 1.2 tackles per game in the Spanish top division, demonstrating that he is more than just a high-end offensive midfielder.
This summer, the Spaniard seems to be the subject of intense attention, with Liverpool possibly emerging as the front-runners to sign him. However, it appears that the Reds are not the only team after him, since there has recently been a Chelsea-related development.
Veiga is being acquired by Chelsea.
A significant update on Veiga’s future was provided by Galetti on Twitter, who acknowledged that the Blues are one of the clubs interested in acquiring him.
“Understand that Liverpool are set to make a concrete move for Gabri Veiga. MF has a release clause (€40m) in the contract with Celta Vigo. Not only LFC: Chelsea, ManCity, RealMadrid & Napoli are among the clubs that shown interest in Gabri.”
In particular, if Mason Mount ends up joining Manchester United, as increasingly appears to be the case, Veiga could be such an exciting addition by Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
He might be a direct replacement for the current Blues player because he would play a comparable role, be younger, and have had a stronger season in the past. Veiga has had a “great season” for Celta, according to football talent evaluator Jacek Kulig, and he is “amazing,” according to Spanish journal Sport.
The lack of European play at Stamford Bridge next season doesn’t help matters, but it is reassuring that Chelsea is at least in the running to sign Veiga. In reality, it does appear as though Chelsea could be behind others in the pecking order.
At the age of 21, he has already made 55 appearances for Celta, quickly establishing himself as an important player. If he continues on his current path, he will soon add to his one cap for Spain’s Under-21 team and eventually earn a senior international spot.
