Sofyan Amrabat could ‘soon sign for a new club’ according to Morocco’s coach
According to rumors, Sofyan Amrabat may be likely to’sign for a new club’ soon.
The Fiorentina midfielder was on international service with Morocco, but oddly, his coach Walid Regragui has sent him home. He played in the Italian team’s 2-1 Europa Conference League final loss to West Ham.
After Morocco upset Belgium, Spain, and Portugal to reach to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals as an underdog, where they were eliminated by 2018 champions France, the 26-year-old was a key player in the Atlas Lions’ fantastical World Cup run.
The midfielder, whose contract expires in the summer of 2024, has drawn interest from a number of European clubs since returning home. Jurgen Klopp made an unsuccessful attempt to lure the player to Anfield in January.
The Morrcan has reportedly been a longtime target for Manchester United, and only last week, his brother claimed that Erik ten Hag had been “charmed” by the Fiorentina player, according to Mail Sport.
Amrabat has added more validity to the rumours that he would be transferring to England by stating that he “would like to play in the Premier League.”
And Regragui gave a hint that he would be leaving the Serie A team soon at his press conference after the Atlas Lions’ 2-1 loss to South Africa today.
‘I decided to let him leave, he won’t play,’ the Moroccan manager reportedly replied when asked about his choice to let Amrabat return home, according to CalcioMercato.
Given that he’s played a lot of games this year and is about to sign with a new club, I wouldn’t want to take a chance.
If Man United decides to sign him, they will need to do it before another top team.
Additionally, according to Mail Sport, should Bayern Munich be unsuccessful in their pursuit of Declan Rice this summer, they may turn to Amrabat as a possible replacement.
According to reports, the Hammers player is worth £100 million, and Ten Hag’s team will compete with four other rival clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal, to capture Rice.
Ollie Watkins was reportedly being pursued by Man United earlier today as a possible replacement for Rasmus Hojlund of Atlanta, whose price tag was £86 million, which United was unwilling to pay for the Danish international.
