In preparation for making a choice about his future at Manchester United, Mason Greenwood has been seen working out with a private coach.
After being accused of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm, the striker was suspended by the Red Devils. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges earlier this year.
United has conducted its own inquiry into the claims and is debating adding Greenwood back to Erik ten Hag’s first-team roster. The inquiry is looking into whether he violated his contract and brought the club into disrepute.
Greenwood is still getting ready to resume his career as a professional football player even though he is currently on suspension. He has also engaged a private coach as part of that, and on Thursday, the coach put him to the test.
The Sun claims that Greenwood had a 90-minute session at a public sports facility honing his close control and shooting. Since Nike no longer sponsors the striker, he was not sporting his customary footwear.
For the workout, Greenwood was sporting a fitness monitor in addition to a black T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. The lesson included a custodian as well, giving Greenwood the chance to practice shooting.
United has not yet decided if Greenwood will be permitted to reclaim his position at Old Trafford. He was on their retained list before they released him at the end of the previous season.
The reason for this is that the 22-year-old is still under contract with United, who maintain that his inclusion on the list is not a reflection of how the ongoing disciplinary procedure will turn out.
The Reds Devils issued a statement confirming the range of choices: “In terms of the goalkeeping department, conversations over a potential new contract with David De Gea are still ongoing, while Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop have had extensions triggered on their contracts.
Defenders Rhys Bennett and Ethan Laird have had their contracts extended, and Under-21s player coach Tom Huddlestone is anticipated to remain after contract negotiations. Mateo Mejia, a promising forward, has also received a job offer.
“Ethan Galbraith and Di’Shon Bernard, who were on loan at Salford City and Portsmouth, respectively, are looking for new opportunities elsewhere. In a matchup against Astana in the 2019 Europa League, both players made their United debuts.
“After their present contracts expire, Eric Hanbury, Charlie Wellens, and Manni Norkett will no longer be employed by the Academy. The Academy is pleased with all of the accomplishments of its leaving young athletes.
“They will all be supported in securing professional contracts at new clubs, provided with a bespoke aftercare programme, and will always have a lifelong association with Manchester United.”
