After watching City play last season, it would be simple to think how anybody could possibly stop them from completing a second consecutive Treble and becoming the first English team to win four consecutive league championships.
From their loss to Tottenham Hotspur until the Chelsea game, when they had already clinched the title, Guardiola’s team won 15 of 16 league games, proving to be virtually unbeatable.
One genuinely wonders what additions Guardiola should make during the transfer window to enhance his nearly ideal squad.
Well, just to add salt to Arsenal’s wounds, after failing to defeat City to the league title despite leading for 93% of the season, they chose to concentrate their efforts on Rice.
The Gunners are still interested in signing the West Ham United captain, but the English champions are now in the running.
This week, Grealish was seen like a message about his England teammate moving to the Etihad Stadium on social media, which got City supporters delighted.
And now it’s occurred once more, this time when Rice and the City team posted a tweet with a star on it asking why they can’t win the Champions League once more.
It’s possible that the City star liked the thought of being a two-time European champion, but it appears that he wants Rice to move to Manchester.
The team also includes Mateo Kovacic in the midfield with the West Ham player, and it looks likely that Kovacic will be arriving from Chelsea.
As well as the two additions in the centre of the park, the team has RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvaridol in defence with Ruben Dias and John Stones.
Stones has played in midfield for most of the second half of the season thanks to a change in formation but could return with the new signings in midfield.
City fans have been encouraged by other hints about where Rice might end up, with a video resurfacing of the 24-year-old fanboying over Yaya Toure.
And there could be even more arrivals in the blue half of Manchester this summer, with Guardiola reportedly interested in Achraf Hakimi.
