The star of Manchester United, Lisandro Martinez, has revealed that he has recovered from the injury that has sidelined him since the beginning of April.
Martinez underwent surgery after breaking his metatarsal against Sevilla in the quarterfinal of the Europa League.
The 25-year-old announced his return on Twitter and is now back on the practice pitch.
Martinez was acquired by the Red Devils from Ajax for £56.7 million last summer.
He helped United keep 20 clean sheets in 45 games across all competitions during his outstanding rookie season.
The return of Lisandro Martinez is fantastic news for Man United
With Martinez and Raphael Varane at the centre of their defence, the Red Devils have a strong defensive connection.
The two have altered the mindset of United’s defensive unit. With their tackles and interceptions, they have taken the initiative.
Martinez, a left-footer, gives a unique perspective to the pitch in terms of ball distribution.
He loves to play sharp passes through the middle and is a smart defender. United are more at ease playing out from the back when he is on the pitch.
The supporters will be looking on Martinez to continue his role in United’s resurgence in the following season.
His return is a massive boost for the Red Devils as he looks to be on track to start pre-season.
United are scouting a range of centre-back options this summer, but Martinez will likely retain his starting spot.
Any new defender signed by the club will be a back-up to Varane and Martinez.
