The 24-year-old’s statement that he has no plans to sign a new deal with the French champions has made Kylian Mbappe’s future at Paris Saint-Germain a hot subject during the past few weeks.
The current PSG contract that Mbappe signed last year is set to expire in the summer of 2019, but he has the option to extend it until 2025. He does not, however, have that intention right now.
Mbappe may leave as a free agent the following summer, though PSG would prefer to prevent this from happening. Instead of losing him for nothing this summer, they would prefer to sell him.
According to the most recent developments, Mbappe has been handed an ultimatum by PSG: either he exercises his right to a one-year contract extension or he will be traded this summer. He has till the end of July to complete this.
Mbappe has made it plain that he intends to complete the remaining year of his contract, but PSG executives may decide to put an end to that.
Mbappe is highly desired by Real Madrid, but they would prefer to sign him to a pre-contract agreement in January, which would allow him to join for free in the summer. However, if PSG placed him up for sale in August, their schedule might be accelerated.
