According to Football Insider, Arsenal is reportedly getting ready to step up their efforts to capture Southampton striker Romeo Lavia this summer.
The Arsenal are reportedly seeking to bring in up to two new midfielders during this transfer window in order to bolster their engine room.
Granit Xhaka was transferred to Bayer Leverkusen by Mikel Arteta’s team, who then bought Declan Rice. Following their sale of Thomas Partey, it is now anticipated that they will attempt to sign another midfield alternative in the upcoming weeks.
Over the past few months, a number of players have been suggested as potential transfers to the Emirates Stadium, with Lavia being considered as a significant target. Arsenal, however, reportedly doesn’t want to pay Southampton’s £45 million asking price to sign the 19-year-old.
As they have been associated with other choices in recent weeks, it was assumed that Arsenal had opted to reduce their interest in him.
Lavia to Arsenal
Arsenal, however, is prepared to step up their efforts to sign the Belgian, according to the report by Football Insider, and they remain interested in doing so.
According to the source, the Gunners have spoken with the player’s agents, and the kid has stated that he would like to move to the Emirates Stadium since he is a “huge fan” of Arteta.
Arsenal won’t have an easy time acquiring Lavia, according to Football Insider, since Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in hiring him during this transfer window.
The Southampton star can play in the box-to-box position but prefers to be a deep-lying playmaker. He has an eye for long-range passing, is strong, effective at coordinating the play from defense to attack, and he can also play defense.
The young player showed some ability during his first Premier League season last year. So, if Arsenal were to sign him before the start of the upcoming season, it would undoubtedly be a wonderful coup.
It will be intriguing to see if Arsenal can eventually sign Lavia during this transfer window and surpass Liverpool and Chelsea in this race.
