Manchester United star Marcus Rashford says Erik Ten Hag is different from managers he’s worked under in the past because he’s solely focused on winning silverware.
The Dutchman brought an end to United’s six-year trophy drought and helped the team finish in the top four during his first season at Old Trafford.
Rashford’s United career has turned around since Ten Hag joined the team, and the attacker scored 30 goals last season as a result.
Rashford has played for five different coaches since his 2016 debut.
Rashford performed admirably at the beginning of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure, but it wasn’t until Ten Hag was brought in that he became the player that many had anticipated he would.
Rashford also claims that the Dutchman stands out from the other coaches he has worked with because of his emphasis on winning trophies rather than merely finishing in the top four.
Erik Ten Hag has that mentality, so when he first entered the race, I never once overheard him mention finishing in the top four. Rashford told the Overlap, “He wanted to try and win everything, whatever of the competition we were playing in.
“We gave it everything but fell short in the Europa League, and there was a time when we weren’t defending well and stopped scoring goals as frequently in the Premier League. That’s something he [Erik ten Hag] will want to solve.”
There is no lower point than visiting rival teams and giving up four, five, or six goals. You have to look for the positives, and the games that followed were always ones we won with a strong showing.
