According to sources, Mason Greenwood’s effort to rejoin Manchester United has reportedly got a major boost. United is anticipated to make a decision over Greenwood’s future at the club soon, and he apparently already has numerous approvals.
After the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm in February, the 21-year-old has been waiting for the club’s decision.
However, United has concluded a five-month investigation during which Erik Ten Hag and club sponsors provided their assessments about the future of the player at Old Trafford.
The Ten Hag’s dressing room, according to The Sun, is in agreement that Greenwood should rejoin the fight after a protracted break.
According to a Sun source, “All the players think he should have another shot because he’s innocent in the eyes of the law.
The players feel as though he has been left in limbo because he didn’t have the chance to defend himself in court because the accusations were withdrawn.
“They are prepared to protect him and support him even if they are aware that it would be difficult.
“Some of the younger players have devotion to him because they went through the academy with him.
They are aware of his past errors, but the boys who have spoken to him claim he has matured considerably over the past 18 months and will return much more experienced.
Greenwood was pictured in Manchester with his father earlier this week, straight-faced as he sat in the passenger seat of a blue Mercedes.
But according to the article, he may have many reasons to smile in the upcoming weeks due to the growing optimism that he might revive his career this year.
It is anticipated that United will either keep him for the following season or if more time is needed to make a long-term decision, loan him out.
Greenwood has a deal with the Red Devils that runs through 2025, with one additional year of employment possible. Throughout his suspension, he has kept his £75,000 weekly wage.
Compared to the 2021/22 season, when he was an active member of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick team, the Old Trafford giants’ attacking unit has changed.
Rasmus Hojlund, a newcomer worth £72 million, and Anthony Martial would have competition from him when he arrived in the center.
However, Greenwood can also play on the right wing, which would make the competition for spots with Jadon Sancho and Antony more intense.
