Chelsea has acquired Robert Sanchez from Brighton this summer in a £25 million move, but Mauricio Pochettino’s team will be searching for a new custodian before the transfer window shuts.
The Evening Standard claims that Chelsea is considering both Mamardashvili and Kobel as potential Kepa replacements.
According to the source, Chelsea has been keeping an eye on the two goalkeepers from the beginning of the transfer period, before Kepa piqued Madrid’s interest.
Bayern Munich, who are also looking for a new custodian as Manuel Neuer recovers from the broken leg he sustained in a skiing accident last December, have expressed interest in Kepa.
But the German team made the Spaniard’s move to Real Madrid official on Sunday.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern, stated, “We are attempting to work on securing a second custodian.”
‘Today, we wanted to introduce Kepa, the Chelsea custodian, who we were so close to signing yesterday.
But he decided to sign with Real Madrid. Because he is Spanish, he wanted to accept Real’s offer.
