By defeating Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium yesterday, Manchester City made it two straight victories in the Premier League.
In their opening home game of the year, Pep Guardiola’s team played well.
After playing Sevilla in the Super Cup on Wednesday, City had a quick turnaround.
There was a strong chance that City may have lost this game.
Phil Foden, however, stole the show against Newcastle as City were far better than on Wednesday.
The key player for City, the England international, also provided an assist on Julian Alvarez’s game-winning goal.
However, there was one more guy who particularly stood out yesterday and truly pleased both Foden and Jack Grealish.
Mateo Kovacic left an impression on both Foden and Grealish.
Several City players shared on social media following the game yesterday.
Kovacic visited City supporters after his first outing at the Etihad as a City player.
Yesterday, Kovacic was outstanding and appeared to have been a member of this team for many years.
He carried the ball at times with daring while also using it intelligently.
Simply put, he will prove to be a fantastic acquisition for £30 million total.
And Kovacic has already made an impression on his City teammates, as evidenced by the comments Foden and Grealish left on Kovacic’s post from yesterday night.
They both wrote “What a player,” with Grealish being especially impressed with the midfielder’s performance.
Additionally, Ruben Dias added a couple of clapping emojis.
The City style has been adopted by Mateo Kovacic like a duck to water.
Kovacic has now played a few times for City, and what a signing he immediately seems to be.
Since Kovacic was Chelsea’s greatest technical player, he had a good chance of blending in at City without too much difficulty.
But he’s probably off to an even better start than most people anticipated.
It’s incredible that City was able to acquire this player for under £30 million total.
It will be quite uncomfortable for Chelsea supporters to witness Kovacic at City. They both wrote “What a player,” with Grealish being especially impressed with the midfielder’s performance.
