As a major fitness boost for Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been cleared to play this weekend against Newcastle.
The Reds’ defender was replaced late in the team’s victory over Bournemouth and appeared to be injured.
Alexander-Arnold is able to play, according to Jurgen Klopp, who said this ahead of the team’s trip to St. James’ Park.
Though Ibrahima Konate is questionable with a muscle injury, Liverpool still has other problems to cope with.
After Alexis Mac Allister’s red card against Bournemouth, which has subsequently been overturned, Klopp stated in his pre-game news conference on Friday that his players were more exhausted than usual.
That is the problem, he said, adding that playing with ten guys didn’t help.
Both Thiago Alcantara and Curtis Jones will be absent from the Newcastle game as they must report to training on Monday.
Wataru Endo, a recent arrival from Japan who would replace Cody Gakpo in the center of the park as a more defensive alternative, could be introduced by Klopp to strengthen his midfield.
After scoring last weekend, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz should preserve their spots in the attack, and Mohamed Salah is expected to start after reports that he was leaving Liverpool for Saudi Arabia were denied.
