After being questioned about Sarr at a news conference, Mauricio Pochettino made waves since it seemed like he didn’t even know who Sarr was. After spending last season on loan at Monaco, the defender’s departure from Chelsea may occur quite soon.
While they prepare to complete a move for fellow Blues outcast Lukaku, Roma has reportedly asked about taking Sarr off Chelsea’s hands.
Sarr’s sale would have to be approved by Chelsea, who are expected to agree to a price of less than €6 million (probably approximately £5 million). The agreement would have to be permanent.
Roma may be able to complete the Sarr deal despite being constrained by Financial Fair Play rules this summer, which is why they can only sign Lukaku on a temporary contract and not a permanent one.
After selling Roger Ibanez to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, where he now plays with former Chelsea goalie Edouard Mendy, Jose Mourinho’s team is searching for a new center-back.
They acquired Evan Ndicka from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier in the summer, but he has yet to make his Serie A debut and will be absent this winter because he will be playing for the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Another left-footed center-back, Sarr, has been suggested as the perfect backup for a defense that still largely relies on former England international Chris Smalling.
Lukaku joining Roma – but will Sarr follow?
For the time being, Lukaku’s move from Chelsea to Roma is more advanced. Indeed, Calciomercato has predicted that he could travel to the Italian capital tonight (Monday).
Lukaku will fill Roma’s attacking void left by an injury to ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and will be back in Serie A after being on loan with Inter for a second spell there last season.
Lukaku failed to justify his club-record price tag after returning to Chelsea between his two stints with Inter. Although it has been difficult, they would have preferred to sell him this summer.
He is therefore prepared to rejoin Mourinho for the season in Rome. Additionally, the 24-year-old Sarr might join him given the good ties between the two teams.
Sarr has a contract until 2025 with Chelsea and a record of 21 games, but it’s become obvious that Pochettino is ignoring him (intentionally or not).
