Due to Raphael Varane’s injury, United has no interest in letting Maguire depart this summer.
This summer, West Ham is still interested in acquiring Maguire.
The France international got hurt against Nottingham Forest and was replaced by Victor Lindelof in the second half.
In regards to Maguire, West Ham was set to put United to the test once more before the transfer window closed this week.
David Moyes had a £30 million bid accepted earlier in the transfer season because he thought the England international might be a significant asset to his team.
Despite making it apparent that Lindelof is the third-choice center-back, Erik ten Hag wanted Maguire to stay, ending the possibility of a transfer.
Varane’s recovery time is now unknown, but United’s backline has already suffered as a result of Luke Shaw’s injury.
Ten Hag cannot afford to have his squad further reduced with recent additions Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount out injured.
Maguire, a defender, would be content to go on and play for a different team.
The 30-year-old was ready to forego a pay raise in order to force a move.
However, given United’s lack of defensive depth, a transfer to West Ham suddenly seems doubtful.
Varane’s injury limits the senior choices for defense to Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, and Eric Bailly, with the latter likely to depart for Saudi Arabia.
Jonny Evans, who will be joining on a short-term deal, was injured for the majority of the previous season while playing for Leicester.
Although Benjamin Pavard is expected to join Inter Milan, the Red Devils have been connected with other defenders during the summer, notably Jean-Clair Todibo.
Whether a newcomer will arrive before the summer window closes on Friday night is still uncertain.
