City of Manchester fullback According to reports, Joao Cancelo is prepared and willing to reduce his pay by about 25% in order to transfer to Barcelona.
Last week, it appeared like the 29-year-old will soon join the Spanish powerhouses.
But the move has been delayed by the club’s financial problems.
On Monday, Cancelo was in fact waiting to board a flight to Barcelona at the airport in Lisbon.
Cancelo was apparently unable to fly because Barcelona’s funds were out of order.
At a risk to his own riches, Barca president Joan Laporta is alleged to have taken out a bank guarantee to give the club a cash infusion to aid in the move.
And right now, it’s being said that Cancelo himself is working to make this move happen.
Joao Cancelo is prepared to reduce his pay to transfer from Manchester City to Barcelona
Cancelo is reportedly ready to accept a pay reduction of about 25% in order to finalize his move to Camp Nou, according to Spanish writer Toni Juanmart.
He seems to be aware that in order to complete the maneuver, he must take this action.
Considering the City is unwilling to pay any of his income during the loan.
Barcelona has already benefited from City’s agreement to waive the player’s buyout clause.
Cancelo, who Bernardo Silva once called “an amazing player,” is reportedly making roughly £250,000 per week at City.
The star’s future at the Etihad is pretty much over, following what happened back in January.
According to rumors, City sent him on loan to Bayern Munich as a result of his reaction to not getting enough playing time at the club.
The player’s relationship with Pep Guardiola has not improved since his return, and thus far this season, he has not been chosen for any of the club’s games.
