At a live event, the 42-year-old was talking about the Blues, and Simon Phillips was recording the conversation.
What does John Terry believe about Mykhailo Mudryk, then? Let’s look at this…
What’s the premise?
Nevertheless, the Chelsea legend continues to support the Ukrainian player despite a rocky start to his Stamford Bridge career.
In 18 Premier League games since joining Chelsea for £88.5 million from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, Mudryk has failed to score for the Blues and has only contributed two assists.
Although Terry’s exact words were not used by Phillips, the reputable journalist tweeted: “John Terry rates Mykhailo Mudryk and fully believes he will come good.”
If anyone has already given up on the 22-year-old, we would be astonished.
Terry is right; in fact, Mudryk will succeed at Chelsea.
Mudryk is obviously having trouble scoring Chelsea’s opening goal, but his skill is undeniable.
Rarely has the Premier League seen a faster forward or one with his dribbling prowess while sprinting at high speeds.
Chelsea will have a seriously potent forward on their hands if Mauricio Pochettino can help Mudryk calm down when his pace causes him to enter risky situations.
In our view, that is the issue right now – it almost seems as if the Chelsea No.10 gets overexcited to be in goalscoring areas, and completely loses his head.
Pochettino is also causing a slight issue himself by using the Ukrainian in compacted areas, where he cannot utilise his pace, with Ben Chilwell hugging the touchline as the out-and-out winger instead.
Hopefully, Mudryk has worked on his composure over the international break, and can net his first goal for Chelsea when Premier League football gets back underway.
