According to journalist Paul Brown, Marc Cucurella is aware that his future at Chelsea is not looking promising at the moment.
He informed GiveMeSport that the Spaniard is aware that Mauricio Pochettino does not currently have him on his Stamford Bridge roster.
Cucurella appeared to be on the move late in the transfer window from all appearances.
However, despite being far from the first team and having a loan deal with Manchester United fall through, he is still in West London.
The obvious first-choice player in the lineup, Ian Maatsen is fiercely competing with Ben Chilwell for playing time.
The Dutchman’s skills are wanted by the Blues for the foreseeable future, therefore they are hopeful he signs a new contract.
This complicates matters for Cucurella, who has had a difficult time handling the pressure that came with his £60 million move from Brighton.
Now, according to Brown, the player is aware that his immediate future is not promising.
“Yeah, the window ended in a very strange way for Cucurella, because I think he really thought he was on his way to Man United, and then he just ended up playing in that cup game, and the move kind of fell apart after that,” he remarked.
“The window is still open in other countries, whether somebody else comes in for him, that’s still possible too, but it’s hard to see him forcing his way into the Chelsea team. He’s going to have to hope for a couple of injuries I think to get back in and get a run.”
