Arsenal is trying to pique a player’s interest again after he turned them down two years ago.
The Gunners have accumulated 10 points from a possible 12 in their first four Premier League games, but results have been far from convincing because Mikel Arteta’s team has yet to establish a routine. The Arsenal manager is integrating new players gradually, especially Kai Havertz into a midfield position. He still hasn’t found a stable starting XI.
Although the Basque manager may believe that his team still needs a more muscular striker to come into the side, Havertz has been partially purchased because of his height and hold-up play. Now, a former target has surfaced.
According to a new report from Football Transfers, Arsenal will reportedly make another bid for Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic during the upcoming winter transfer window.
When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was injured in January 2021, Vlahovic was a top target for the Gunners, but the forward decided against joining the Premier League. Instead, he made Juventus his home in Turin.
In addition to bringing in Havertz, Arsenal has since added Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah, and Gabriel Jesus as part of Vlahovic’s backup plan. Attackers have a wide range of choices, so a move for the 23-year-old looks incredibly unlikely.
Given that Vlahovic wants to play in the Champions League and Juventus is still banned from European participation due to rule-breaking by UEFA, an exit could be possible within the next 12 months, especially if Juventus needs the cash to fund a reconstruction.
With the United States star leaving for Monaco, the north Londoners have recently sold Folarin Balogun, recovering over £30 million for a homegrown striker.
By Transfermarkt, Vlahovic is worth about €70 million.
