Nunes, who cost £53 million to transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers to City on deadline day, did not play in the 5-1 win over Fulham prior to the international break.
Although the 25-year-old has work to do before he is prepared to play a significant role in his team, Guardiola is eager to begin working with Nunes.
Guardiola stated in a news conference that the player “can play in holding midfield, attacking midfield, and with time he could play at full-back with his physicality.”
“I believe he needs to get better at making decisions on the first touch and contact. It doesn’t seem exact enough to me. Make an effort to handle the ball like Kevin De Bruyne. His energy is of a caliber that is really rare. He will get the ability to be more exact with simple tasks.
He continued, “He can play in many positions; at Wolves, he played the last games as a winger. That ability to dribble through opponents and travel 10, 15, or 20 meters with the ball is extremely rare.
“He will eventually learn to be more accurate with the fundamentals, such the initial touch and first pass. He will grasp it thanks to our dynamic training environment.
When City travels to West Ham United on Saturday in a matchup of two of the Premier League’s hottest clubs, Nunes will be hoping to make his debut.
