Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, feels that one of his earlier arguments was highlighted by his team’s 3-1 victory over West Ham.
It was very crucial for the club, according to Guardiola, to have persuaded both Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva to sign new contracts.
Walker led the team with assurance, while Bernardo was superb throughout the match, scoring a critical goal.
It would have been really difficult to lose Kyle and Bernardo, Guardiola told the media.
“It doesn’t matter how significant they are off the field; they are significant individuals and personalities, and there are a lot of things that are nearly irreplaceable for a lot of things.
“Because the personalities require one, two, or three years to become a part of the squad, and possibly the players who fill in for the players (who leave), the quality is there, and they will be good.
But it’s very challenging to have the composure that Walker and Bernardo exhibit.
“It takes time, which is why it’s so crucial (that they stayed) despite losing crucial players like Gundo and Riyad.
“After losing these players, it would have been crucial to lose two more.
“For this reason, we are thrilled that the club made the hire and that the players wish to stick around for a little while longer.
“So, yeah, (we are) very happy.”
