Due to a poorly timed knee injury sustained in the final preseason game, the 25-year-old has been sidelined for the remainder of the current season. Christopher Nkunku, a forward for Chelsea, posted a status update on Instagram to inform followers of his injury recovery progress.
The French forward adjusted quickly to life as a Chelsea player, scoring three goals in preseason before suffering an injury that has kept him sidelined ever since.
There is no question that Mauricio Pochettino’s team has suffered without him, as they have had difficulty scoring goals in the Premier League, with Raheem Sterling leading the way following his brace against Nottingham Forest.
Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson had such a promising relationship, but since Jackson’s injury, Nkunku has only scored once, and his overall performance has been slipping as he tries to score and the club’s inability to win games wears on him.
Chelsea’s average age in the Premier League is 23.5, but the team’s performances haven’t been great, and the most recent tie against Bournemouth has many wondering if Mauricio Pochettino’s project is moving in the right path.
As Chelsea bounces back from the most recent setback, Nkunku posted an update online. The former player for RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain posted a series of photographs to social media along with the caption “In progress..[timer emoji]”.
