Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is expected to receive a triple injury boost for this weekend’s rematch against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Prior to their Premier League matchup against the Eagles, the team will assess the health of midfielders Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay, as well as Sergio Reguilon. The three were all missing from Tuesday night’s 3-0 League Cup victory over the same opponents.
After United’s victory at Burnley, where Reguilon had wanted to play despite feeling under the weather, he failed to show up at the Carrington training facility. In order to stop illness from spreading throughout the team, United often sends sick players home or asks them to avoid the training facility.
Prior to becoming unwell, both Eriksen and McTominay attended training on Monday and were scheduled to play against Roy Hodgson’s team.
Lisandro Martinez is another player who might appear this weekend. Martinez, who sustained a metatarsal bone fracture against Sevilla in April, has missed the last two games due to a foot problem and is still feeling pain in his right foot.
However, manager Ten Hag already has four centre backs to select from, including Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Harry Maguire, thanks to Raphael Varane’s return in the middle of the week. Next week, United will play Galatasaray and Brentford at home, so it’s unlikely that Martinez will be risked. Additionally, the defensive line is still suffering from injuries, with Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka still on the long-term injured list.
Amad is another player who might not be out of action for too long. The 21-year-old is expected to resume full first-team training after the international next month.
Since suffering a knee injury that kept him off the pitch for more than two months, he has been AWOL.
