Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, apparently intends to persuade one “remarkable” player to move to north London.
Who has 2023 Arsenal signed?
In an effort to once again contend for the Premier League championship, Arteta’s team signed contracts for up to £200 million for goalkeeper David Raya, attacker Kai Havertz, versatile Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, and club-record signing Declan Rice.
Folarin Balogun, Granit Xhaka, Matt Turner, Auston Trusty, Pablo Mari, Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding, Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos, Nicolas Pepe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Albert Sambi Lokonga were among the Arsenal players who were loaned or permanently left the club.
Despite the harsh criticism Havertz has received and the fact that Timber will be out for the majority of the season due to an ACL injury, these additions have so far paid off. In Arteta’s goal, Raya has replaced longtime starter Aaron Ramsdale, and Rice is gradually but surely recouping his astronomical £105 million price tag.
The Gunners are seeking to stay pace with the top teams in the division by taking on Bournemouth today. The Gunners remain unbeaten through their first six league games, winning four of them.
What are the most recent Arsenal transfer rumours?
Despite their extravagant spending over the summer, it has been claimed that Arsenal have their sights set on January, and Ivan Toney of Brentford is one player they have been strongly, strongly linked with. There is a great deal of interest in the England striker, who is now serving a suspension until mid-January for alleged gambling violations.
After Toney’s excellent 20-goal league performance the previous season, which earned great praise from his manager Thomas Frank, Chelsea and Tottenham have been mentioned as potential suitors.
“It’s incredible how he handles pressure and distractions. He has been leading the team, contributing to the performance, and scoring goals. He is amazing. Ivan is a great guy around the group, but I can just speak about the Ivan I see around the place every day. He possesses the exceptional emotional intelligence needed to be aware of all the athletes and staff.
Reporter John Cross of The Daily Mirror has an update on Toney’s probable transfer to the Emirates Stadium and claims that the 27-year-old is a personal favourite of Arteta’s. According to his understanding, the manager of Arsenal intends to personally “persuade” Toney to sign with the club by designating him as a top priority.
Arteta will reportedly hope that this will convince him to choose them over other interested parties (Chelsea and Spurs again), but Arsenal may need to sell players first. Brentford would ask for at least £60 million for Toney, but given Financial Fair Play, the Gunners might be leery of that price. According to Cross, any suggested makeweights will be difficult to uncover because players like Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe are committed to succeeding at Arsenal.
However, Arteta has a strategy to entice Toney, and it involves becoming the striker Arsenal’s “outstanding choice” in the upcoming transfer window.
